Default sad news -- Sherra has passed

    Hello All,

I know it has been forever since I have been on this forum, but I still consider all of you friends. Over the years we have made some great friendships on this site and we have had the pleasure of meeting lots of you in person.

It has taken me a week to try and come up with the words for this message. With that being said, it is with a heavy heart that I need to inform our extended family at mustangsandmore that my wife Sherra passed away last Tuesday July 28th. She had some very hard times near the end and is now truly at peace. She enjoyed the friendships she made here and became very close with some of you, which I know she cherished.
I ask that you keep her (and our daughters) in your thoughts and prayers.

I am not one to discuss personal issues on a forum, but if anyone is so inclined, I am more than willing to discuss the circumstances of her passing via e-mail at dpetejr@yahoo.com

Thank you all for being her friend.

    Duane

Although I didn't know her well, this is still a terrible shock.
My sincere condolenses Duane. Your family is in my prayers and well wishes.
Thanks for taking the time, as painful as it probably is, to share this news with your friends at M&M.

    Duane,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughters.

Please try and remember the fun, silly things that you did and laughed together about. Those are the stories that I always try to pass along to friends.

My Mom died at 94 years old March 15 of this year. She had not been doing well and she now is at peace.

This was a woman who I remember painting the interior of a large brick home in Suffolk, Virginia many times - by herself. It went much easier than if we kids "had helped."

One story from her - It was about a month before she died. My brother Jack was taking care of her at the nursing home. Jack said that mom, as she lay in bed, motioned for Jack to come over close as if she wanted to whisper something to him.

Jack went to her bedside on her right side. Mom became agitated and so very emphatically motioned that Jack should go around to the other side.

He did and leaned down to hear "the words of wisdom." Mom pointed up towards where the two walls and ceiling came together and said, "Do you see that?" Jack looked closely, thinking that Mom might be hallucinating and said "No, what is it?"

Becoming further agitated, Mom said, "Look, up there, where the walls and ceiling meet in the corner." Jack said, "Yeah, still don't see anything."

Mom said, "Would you look at that, they missed a spot when they last painted the room, right there in the corner."

    A perfectionist to the end.

Mom graduated from Marywood College at age 19 with a teaching degree.

    Duane,
I'm very sorry to hear your heartache but glad Sherra is at peace now, and that you have such good memories of her. I will keep you and your daughters in my prayers--the next few months after the families go back home will be the most difficult for you. Find something to do to keep busy. Keep up with friendships. Enjoy her memory and friendship.

    Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I am not sure what I would do if my wife was sick let alone gone.
